Common Myths Related to Drinking Water- Check out the Truth?

Out of our little or more knowledge (whichever category you fall under) many of us believe in various things (myths) regarding foods, lifestyle habits, cold drinks, alcohol, the list is endless. But have you ever thought that whatever you believe in holds any truth or not? Sometimes what we believe is true and sometimes it is not! Under the category there falls myths related to drinking water that are prevalent in almost all households. Let us today discuss them and rectify our false believes.

Myth 1- Drinking water while you are eating is bad for digestion.

Fact- This is one sentence that has been passed from generation to generation, I believe! But there are no scientific verifications to the fact that drinking water between meals affects digestion. On the contrary if you drink water in between it will help you curb your appetite and reduce the amount of food you will eat. From now onwards sip little glass with every meal.

Myth 2- Sipping 8-9 tumblers of water is beneficial for health.

Fact- This is also among the most viral myths but sadly no scientific verification to the fable. There are no evidences that you will remain healthy if you keep on sipping water all the time. Rather drink when you are thirsty is what all doctors recommend.

Myth 3- Drink as much water as you can, this will help you a lot.

Fact- Surprisingly, sipping too much water can harm your health. Excessive water consumption can lead to salt concentration inside body. Ultimately the person will suffer from water intoxication- the condition when our kidneys over-work and unable to excrete water in form of urine.

Myth 4- Water cleans out the body toxins

Fact- Toxins filtration is done by kidneys not by water. People who believe that drinking more water will help detoxify their body, they are completely wrong. Instead too much water will hinder the normal functioning of kidneys.

Myth 5- Drinking water is necessary for healthy skin.

Fact- Our body already contains 60% of water and moreover there are no scientific evidences that prove that this can lead to glowing skin. Also it is important to understand the fact that healthy skin is a result of good and balanced diet and proper exercise.

Myth 6- Drinking water can help in reducing weight

Fact- Water is far away from miracle drug that helps in losing weight. Drinking too much water will make your stomach remains full and affect your eating pattern. Weight loss is a result of eating balanced and avoiding fried and junk food, not gulping down liters of water.

How many myths were there that you too believed in? At least one would be there I know, as they are too common for every household. So drink water in limit and stay healthy.
