Natural Home Treatments for Hives and Causes

Hives or urticaria is a skin problem that produces itchy, red bumps on skin due to allergy caused by medicines or food. Common allergens that cause this allergy on skin are nuts, fish, dairy products, preservatives, food additives and aspirin etc. Hives may also form due to stress, insect bites, viruses and environmental toxins.

There is a great itching and burning sensation on skin and rings or large patches forms on skin. This is irritating and hampering problem for skin, but it is not difficult to treat this problem, besides trying different available treatments at medical stores you can treat this problem with some simple methods at home. There are some simple home remedies for treating hives that are as explained below:

Home based treatment for hives:

Sesame oil – Soak cotton in sesame oil and apply this to the affected area. It is effective in reducing the symptoms gradually.

Turmeric - Add one teaspoon turmeric to warm milk and drink this milk two or three times a day. It is effective in treating hives.

Mint - Add 5 gm mint to water and then filter the solution, add sugar to this water and drink it about two times in a day.

Ginger – Take a little ginger powder or ginger juice with water regularly and you will see your urticaria is reducing gradually.

Camphor – Mix camphor in coconut oil and apply this to the affected area. It is believed to be very effective for treating hives.

Linseed oil – Mix flaxseed oil and camphor, in half amount as that of flaxseed oil, in a bottle and close the bottle with cork. Leave the bottle to let the camphor dissolve in oil for 15 minutes. Now apply this oil to the affected area.

Margosa – Chewing fresh leaves of margosa tree helps in treating hives, as long as you are suffering from hives the leaves will taste normal but after the treatment leaves will start tasting bitter.

Chironjee and honey – Mix pistachio seeds in honey and take one teaspoon 2 to 3 times in a day to effectively reduce hives.

Soda bicarbonate – Take 250 ml water and add 20 gm sodium bicarbonate to it. Now use this solution to rub on the affected area. You will get relief in some time.
